How scholarships are paid

7 October 2026

Scholarships go straight to a school or approved provider, never as cash. Here's the process.

1. What a scholarship can pay for

  • ✓Secondary or tertiary school fees.
  • ✓Exam registration: JAMB, WAEC or NECO.
  • ✓Tutorial fees at a registered centre.
  • ✓Books or a learning device, bought through an approved vendor.

2. How it's paid

  • ✓Your guardian sends us the institution's invoice or account details.
  • ✓We check the institution, then pay it directly within 30 days of verification.
  • ✓Your guardian receives the receipt.

No cash is ever paid to students. If anyone asks you to pay a fee to release a scholarship, it isn't us. Report it.

3. Holding a scholarship

Not ready to use it yet? A scholarship can be held for up to 12 months, for example until your admission letter arrives.

4. Where the money comes from

Scholarships are funded by sponsors and the EduPREP Scholarship Fund, a fixed amount set aside each month in a dedicated account. Student subscriptions never fund scholarships.
