Fair play

7 October 2026

How we keep the exam honest: unique papers, monitoring, re-sits for winners, and how to appeal.

1. Every paper is different

Questions come from large pools for each subject. Each candidate receives a different selection of equal difficulty, with questions and options in a shuffled order. Sharing answers doesn't help, because nobody has your paper.

2. During the exam

  • ✓Copy, paste, printing and right-click are switched off. Every screen carries a faint mark with your Scholar ID and the time, so any leaked photo traces back to its account.
  • ✓Leaving the exam screen is recorded. You'll be warned twice; on the 3rd time your paper is submitted automatically and reviewed.
  • ✓We flag answer patterns that are too similar between accounts, impossible speeds, shared devices and score jumps with no practice history.

3. Re-sit for award candidates

The provisional top 20 and every award candidate sit a supervised re-sit between 1 and 5 November, online with video supervision or at a partner centre in Benin City. To confirm an award, the re-sit score must be at least 85% of the exam score. Identity is checked with a photo or school ID and guardian confirmation.

4. If someone cheats

Proven cheating leads to disqualification and a ban. The award moves to the next verified entrant. We publish the number of disqualifications after each month, never names.

5. Appeals

Appeal in writing within 72 hours of provisional results. Two staff members who weren't involved in the original flag review it, and you'll get a decision within 7 days.
